A massive Whole Foods opens next week, to be followed shortly by Fresh & Easy and Sprouts. All position themselves as healthier alternatives, but conventional markets aren't standing still. After shopping at conventional stores for decades, Patricia Gonzales has switched to "natural" and organic food.

To the editor -- Experience in life deals some surprising results as I learned one day while doing needed grocery shopping at Fred Meyer. Having just had some medical work and needing shots in an ailing right knee, I was unable to walk without some assistance for a brief period.
